HRTidings Short NoteMaximum Exclusion Allowance (MEA) CalculationDuring the past few months we have heard rumors that the Maximum Exclusion Allowance (MEA) Calculation will be going away effective January 1, 2002. The rumor that you may have heard is false. Unfortunately, the Coordinating Board will not release the District from liability if a person over contributes on their Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA). It is therefore our fiduciary responsibility to ensure that employees do not exceed the maximum contribution that will be $11,000 effective January 1, 2002. We have revised the MEA spreadsheets (Excel and also PDF versions) reflecting the increase in the amount that can be sheltered. These spreadsheets are available on the HR website via the Retirement Information Page at: http://www.dcccd.edu/people/hr/retinfo/retindx.htm (Please note that the Excel version of the documents contain spreadsheets and are housed on the DCCCD Intranet. To access and use these Excel files, you must provide your Novell Login and password.) If you have any questions, please may contact your Location HR Director or Luis Camacho at the District Office (214) 860-2434. Last Updated: February 11, 2005 |
